Introduction to Drawing with Alex Singleton is a welcoming and accessible drawing course for anyone who would like to learn how to draw or develop their existing skills. Set in a relaxed and supportive environment at WOCA, the course is ideal for complete beginners as well as those returning to drawing after time away.
The emphasis is on building strong foundations while encouraging experimentation, confidence, and enjoyment. No previous experience is required — just a willingness to take part and explore your creativity.
About the Course
Over four weekly sessions, you will be gently guided through the fundamentals of drawing. You will learn how to observe more closely, understand line, tone, shape, and proportion, and develop shading techniques to create depth and form. The course also explores mark-making, composition, texture, and detail, helping you gain confidence and begin to develop your own personal approach to drawing.
Each session includes clear demonstrations, structured exercises, and individual support, allowing you to progress at your own pace in a friendly, non-judgemental setting.
Who This Course Is For
This course is suitable for adults of all ages, including complete beginners and those who have not drawn for some time. It is ideal for anyone looking for a creative outlet, a confidence boost, or the opportunity to slow down and enjoy drawing in a supportive environment.
Materials
All materials are fully provided as part of the course, so there is nothing you need to bring with you. Drawing paper, pencils and drawing tools, charcoal and other media, as well as all necessary accessories, will be supplied.
Dates & Location
The course begins on Monday 13th/ Tuesday 14th April 2026 and runs every Monday&Tuesday for four weeks, with sessions taking place on 13th April, 20th April, 27th April, 11th May.
and 14th April, 21st April, 28th April, 5th May.
All sessions are held at WOCA.Cost
The cost is £18 per session, or £72 for the full four-week course.
All materials are included. Payment is required to secure your place.
